Petition in Support of Bill 100 (Paved Shoulders on Provincial Highways)
This private member's bill, introduced by MPP Norm Miller, would enhance public safety and promote active transportation in Ontario. The bill, if passed, will require a minimum one metre paved shoulder on certain provincial highways to improve public safety for cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists alike.
"There are obvious health benefits for the individual and society in general, as we provide more opportunity to cycle and walk for recreation, or for transportation. And of course, reduced healthcare costs are an added benefit," said MPP Norm Miller.
