No Real Green Benefit to Eco-Tax
News:
On July 1st, the McGuinty Government implemented the latest tax on the heels of their HST tax grab. The so called “Eco Fee” is collected and levied by an arms-length agency of the McGuinty Government and is then spent without any meaningful transparency or accountability.
Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak is calling on Dalton McGuinty to scrap the ‘eco fee’ and committed that, if the McGuinty Liberals fail to eliminate their latest tax-grab, then a future Ontario PC Government will.
Quotes:
“I don’t see any connection between this ‘eco-tax’ and increased participation in diverting these items from landfills.”
--Norm Miller, MPP Parry Sound – Muskoka
“Ontario’s families simply can’t afford to pay another green tax on another supposed green initiative – especially when they have no confidence that the money will actually benefit the environment.”
--Norm Miller, MPP Parry Sound – Muskoka
